16,5 x 10,5 cm, in-12, 20 ff. montés en accordéon et imprimés au recto seul, 7 gravures hors texte en couleurs, page de titre gravée et illustrée en couleurs, texte entièrement gravé, en feuilles sous couverture paille à petit rabats ornée sur chaque plat d'une gravure en noir , étui.
Édition originale de ces courts poèmes en croate et premier tirage des gravures. Tirage unique à 20 exemplaires seulement, tous sur pur fil de Rives, signés par l'artiste (n° 4).
Charmant livre d'artiste, entièrement gravé (eau-forte et burin sur cuivre). Bien sûr très rare.
Virgil Nevjestić (1935-2009), né à Kolo en Croatie s'est installé à Paris en 1968. Essentiellement graveur, il s'est mis à la peinture dans les années 1980. Il a illustré plusieurs livres, dont certains, comme celui-ci, entièrement conçus et imprimés par ses soins.
Très bel exemplaire.

Ana, what are they about? I don't read Croatian, so I can't tell. Nevjestić is mostly known as an engraver, but if the verses are as nice as the engravings, maybe I should raise my price... ;-)

SupprimerI haven't heard of him, I don't know if he's considered a good poet in Croatia.
The bits I see here are not really "about" anything, but the way he plays with words makes a certain atmosphere.
Translating poetry is hard on its own, and it's even harder when it's about wordplay, so take this as a rough, amateur translation of the second one:
"Indreamt dreams
whirr with silences
of your tears
the colours of lines
weave light
of our paths
and encircle the space
of stumbling."
